Ryan & Jenna Schaefer

Our Story

Both Colorado Natives, we, Ryan and Jenna made a decision in 2017 that would change the trajectory of our family's lives forever.  We left the city for a better life in the country and built Mountain View Farmstead from the ground up.  Our desire to tap into the ways  of the generations before us has been our mission not only in how we are raising our three children, but in the way we raise our livestock too.

Our dream of this lifestyle started clear back when we were highschool sweethearts.  We would speak of our future as if it were already present.  Fast forward 20+ years later, our dream came to fruition and now we get to raise the next generation up the same way.

About The Animals

NO HORMONES OR ANTIBIOTICS. EVER.

Our beautiful Scottish Highland Beef is sourced on the front range in Berthoud, CO.

Known for their beautiful, long hair, Scottish Highlands are also known for having a modern beef carcass with lean, well-marbled, flesh that ensures tenderness and succulence.  Highland beef is healthy and nutritious with lower levels of fat and cholesterol and a higher protein and iron content than any other breed.

Our purebred Highland Cattle are registered with the American Highland Cattle Association.

Our Pigs

Mangalitsa X Pork sourced on the front range in Berthoud, CO.

Mangalitsa Pork is known for its red meat, tenderness and marbling.  Each bite accompanied with it's beautiful white fat, which is higher in monounsaturated fats, compared to other pork breeds higher in polyunsaturated fats, making it easier on your body to process.

We are working hard to increase the availability of our pigs as we expand our operation to meet the huge demand we have seen for good pork raised the right way, so snag it while you can!

Our Chicken

The heritage Red Ranger Chicken breed is known as the some of best tasting chicken in the world.  What makes Red Ranger Chickens so unique? The slower growing breed makes for hardier and healthier meat birds from start to finish. Not only that, but Red Ranger Chickens are dual-purpose and efficiently lay on average 250 eggs per year.  After processing, our meat birds average out a healthy 5 lbs.
